The first presentation of the evening was the two talented students of two maestros, one of them Srinjoy Mukherjee in sarod student of USTAD AMAAN ALI KHAN and the other one was Asif Khan in tabla, student and son of USTAD SABIR KHAN. Srinjoy was also accompanied by a young pakhawaj player Mukesh Kumar Dash. The trio set-in there musical journey on the stage in an exquisite manner and their music flooded the Hall.
Srinjoy started with a traditional raga of monsoon, raga Miya ki Malhar.A short Alap and then a rhythmic Jor and jhala with pakhawaj. The way of variation of some notes like re to pa and sudha ni to komal ni mesmerized the audience.
Srinjoy’s next presentation was another monsoon raga DESH. After a short Alap he continued with a Bandish of jhaptala where Asif proved his presence. After jhaptal Srinjoy played a romantic bandish of raga Desh in ektal. His typical ekharas in ektal and stroke mesmerized the audience. The end of raga Desh Srinjoy did a proper jhala in which his right hand was very cleared (di ri or da ra) that always reminded his Gharan.
Srinjoy concluded with raga durga and tagore’s “ekla chalo re”. In durga Srinjoy showed a “sathsangat” with Asif which was marvelous. Asif is a node out good table player and that day also he proved that.
